Postal is now an universal binary

Friday, June 29th, 2007

One of my favourite games to play for the computer has always been Postal 2. And what makes me happy is that I didn’t have to lose playing Postal 2 when I made my switch from Windows to Mac. And now, a good thing has been made better now that the original Postal has been turned into an Universal binary. And for $10, it’s a real bargain. The original is not polluted with side tasks or too much backstory (if you like that sort of thing) but it is a very violent game for those who just want to relieve a little stress. And yes, it is VERY effective - I find myself playing a little Postal 2 or Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend every now and then.

I want Idolm@ster

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

I never thought I’d say this again but I want a console game. Congratulations universe, you win. Oh, but it’s not just a console game. It’s a cute japanese dating sim called The Idolm@ster and it’s available only on the Xbox 360. It gets worse, because it’s not only available solely for the Xbox 360, but in addition, it’s locked to the NTSC/J (Japan) region. This means, I’d have to buy a Japanese Xbox 360 to play it. So, in order to play it, I’d have to spend around $380 USD, and that does not even include the duties I would have to pay to Canadian Customs nor does it include the duties I would have to pay to the US customs in the event that I have to be sent back to the United States. The Nighttime Sleeping, Coughing, Aching, Stop Drinking my fucking Apple Juice Medicine

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

I went this morning to finally crack open that apple juice that I have been wanting to drink and guess what? Someone already did it for me. Plus, they had the nerve to down about half of it. Bastard! I believe this is why my Pizza Pops started coming up missing and the box appears in the trash. Plus, my chocolate milk starts getting drunk in about half the time it would take me. WTF?

In other news, I got my copy of Neverwinter Nights 2: Chaotic Evil edition in the mail today from GAME in the UK. I just need to get myself a Mighty Mouse and I am all set to play that sucker! I crack the box open and to my surprise, it’s not all that exciting. I could have sworn that I thought I would get a lot more stuff than what actually came in it. Here is what I did get, just so you know: (more…)

Software I purchased this year/

Friday, December 29th, 2006

This is a list of all the software I purchased this year, whether it was for my MacBook Pro or for my Windows PC that I used to own.

Applications that I Purchased

  • Acquisition - A file sharing app for the Macintosh platform.
  • Adobe Creative Suite 2 - A set of cool Adobe applications. I usually only use Photoshop though.
  • Apple Aperture - A cool photo editing and arranging app.
  • Chroma - A media player that I bought. I shouldn’t have though, it wasn’t all that great.
  • CSSEdit - A cool little CSS editing app.
  • Delicious Library - A cool app that will allow you to scan in your books, DVDs and other media so you can index them and keep track of them. Uses your iSight to read the barcodes and pulls data from Amazon.ca.
  • FlickrExport for iPhoto - It’s a pretty cool app that allows me to upload my photos to Flickr from my digital camera after they are imported into iPhoto.
  • Keepsake - Come to think of it, I am not entirely sure what this game is about.
  • Microsoft Office for Mac - We should all know what this is.
  • Neverwinter Nights for Mac - Yes, this includes the two expansion packs as well. I had to get those so I could play NWN to it’s fullest.
  • Neverwinter Nights 2 Chaotic Evil Edition - I hear it’s a pretty cool game. I hope I get to play it once Game.co.uk delivers my copy.
  • Parallels - For those times when I need a test Linux environment
  • Postal 2 - The ultra-violent offencive game from Running With Scissors.
  • Spymac Club - A series of applications for people to connect to the SpyMac community.
  • TextMate - A great text editor for the Mac.
  • Transmit - A very nice FTP app.

So, you found the ads?

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Well, AdBrite doesn’t seem to be doing anything good for my site so I have decided to try to pound out a new advertising scheme on my site. But do I think they will be intrusive? Not really. I believe that like with every other web page, I have to place ads to keep paying the bills for the server. And if I can help people find a Playstation 3 or a Nintendo Wii, all the better. Basically, these are temp ads, and considering the kind of person I am - they are relevant to this site.

Well, I’d love to stay and chat but I have to go pick up a Bill of Sale for a friend of mine. Peace. ^_^

Getting more than my fair share of crap

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Okay, so the day of the DOA meeting, I walk into Words and Pictures and lo and behold - my Green Green DVDs came in. The problem? I ordered them 2 months ago from Words and Pictures and I got them when I got back from Fall Ministry Experience from Amazon.ca. In fact, he made me pay for them with my store credit from those Dungeons and Dragons guidebooks that I returned. WTF?!? So, these DVDs are going back to Amazon.ca since Rob won’t allow me to get a refund at his store. Yeah, from now on I am going to use Amazon.ca to purchase all my anime stuff because Words and Pictures sucks. (Miranda directed me toward this store, so what should I expect?)

Also, I finally moved my site over to MediaTemple. Yeah, I know - I should have done it sooner. I started the process to give Barry my web space so I hope he can forgive the latency of this. Just in case you don’t know, I will fill you in on all the details. Barry runs an Azumanga Daioh fan site called Sata Andagi and a less important site called ThoughtDump.net. Now, normally, I would just give this away to someone through some sort of contest but this guy is on 1&1 web hosting so he kinda got my sympathies on this. (fyi: 1&1 is evil)

When I went to my Post Office box downtown, I found out that I forgot my P.O. Box keys. So I had to get the nice Post Office woman to get my mail for me. Appearantly, my Bleach Original Sound Tracks came in. ^_^ But unfortunately, I had to pay customs fees on one of the CDs, just because it was not correctly classified. It wasn’t too bad though, only about $6.00 or something like that. I wonder what I will have to pay when my books come in from Alibris or my NWN2 Limited Edition DVD comes in from GAME in the UK.

So, after that ordeal, I trudged to Meagan and Matt’s place to watch CSI. So, this entails taking the C-Train from downtown to Brentwood and taking a #20 Northmount bus to the shopping centre that encompasses Safeway, CIBC, Shell, a 7-Eleven, a PetroCanada and a few other places. The trudge up to Meagan and Matt’s house from the bus was fierce as they lived several blocks away, completely barred from the bus. The weather was brutally cold and the streets were completely dark (local time: 7pm). When I finally make it to their house, I am greeted with the promise of Lasagna and about 1 hour of CSI.

Today, I leave my warm, comfortable bed for the cold Calgary weather that doesn’t appear to be getting any better and make my way to ABC to talk with Mr. Pringle. Appearantly, I am to blame because my roommate is a liar and my landlords were douche bags. I don’t understand why this is and I am not quite sure why it is that everyone at that college wishes to bully me. It feels at times that I am helpless in my struggle. It feels as if that the faculty (Mr. Pringle and Mr. Frasier) will not stop their assault against me. I am growing terribly tired of this and I wish that I could just escape…

Planning to wipe my Macintosh clean

Monday, November 13th, 2006

In a few days, I plan to wipe my MacBook Pro clean and reinstall OS X Tiger. Why? Well, Leopard is fucking with a lot of my applications. Two in particular would be Adium and CrossOver for Mac, but there are other applications that are a few quirks that prohibit them from running in a regular fashion. Applications such as Mail, Azureus, Firefox, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Transmit and Quicksilver.

So, what is the problem that I am facing with just wiping the MacBook and reinstalling Tiger? Well, I still need to find my MacBook’s support disc because my ADC Tiger Disk won’t run on the MacBook Pro. That’s a real bummer because I really want to play on Nyxsis RO.

More info about the Postal Movie

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

Well, I am kinda cheerful this morning. Why? Well, director Uwe Boll has announced a September 12 th start date for the filming of the official POSTAL movie. Scheduled for release some time next year, the feisty Boll has begun his usual eleventh hour signing of major Hollywood names for the production. While previous casting information was limited largely to rumor and obvious choices such as Gary Coleman and Vince Desi, word has just arrived that Ron Perlman has been signed to play Uncle Dave.Perlman should be quite familiar to our readers. He first gained notice as the lionesque lead in the TV series “Beauty and the Beast” (guess who Ron played?) but has since made movie memories in roles ranging from the scary Russian Koulikov in “Enemy at the Gates” to the eponymous star of the “Hellboy” franchise. Ron has even worked with Uwe before, on the still-unreleased Dungeon Siege film, “In the Name of the King” and, since we’re told he signed a two-picture deal, will apparently work with him again, after POSTAL wraps.

Perlman is quite experienced the world of videogames, having lent his voice to many of them, including: Gun and Narc. Other cast members include Gareth Von Kallenbach, Boll mascot Will Sanderson, Ralf Moeller and Richard Kyanka (who is scheduled as one of Boll’s opponents in the upcoming “Raging Boll” battle). Still no final word on who will play the Postal Dude himself. You can even visit Uwe’s own nascent site and view the film’s current logo.

And what of the the fight against Boll’s critics? Well, it took a second, even more inflammatory press release to do it, but POSTAL film director Uwe Boll has finally managed to lure several “punching bags” into his web, which in this case is a boxing ring.

As readers of last issue will no doubt recall, Uwe issued a challenge on June 12 th to his many critics (limited to those who published or delivered scabrous, scathing critiques of the auteur somewhere in the media during the calendar year 2005) to duke it out with him as part of a bizarre promotion for his cinematic rendition of POSTAL.

But despite Uwe’s offer to house his opponents in luxury guest accommodations at his expense, he wasn’t getting takers. So he sweetened the bait with an incendiary press release on July 27th in which he asked the musical question: “Where are my harshest critics from the IMDb and other websites hiding? Are they chickening out? Many have said they will fight me but they never register to fight? Where are all the other outspoken critics? Critics who claim that they have registered for the boxing match, but in fact have not. Where is Headhunter004? Where are the rest of you?

“We have decided to make it easier for all you arm chair critics . We will drop the number of boxing rounds down from a professional level of 10 rounds of boxing to an amateur level of three rounds of boxing for each of the five matches.

“To all of my extreme critics, be man enough to come forward, register and let’s get it on. Here’s your chance to bring me down in front of international press and TV cameras. Have it recorded for history by being part of my next feature film, POSTAL… Put up or shut up! â€?

Well, that apparently did the trick. On August 21, Uwe announced that he had found his “punching bags” and had even scored a sponsorship deal with online casino GoldenPalace.com to present the event he has dubbed “Raging Boll.”

According to a press release we received from Gareth Von Kallenbach, GoldenPalace.com CEO Richard Rowe marveled: “This event is perfect for us. We receive so many outlandish offers for advertising exposure that it is refreshing to see something that surprises even us.”

Four matches are currently scheduled for September 23 and one match is set for earlier in Spain , making a total of five opponents, though the dates aren’t yet set in stone.

So, who are these brave souls who will dare to step onto the canvas with the master of the Boll-o Punch? Carlos Palencia Jiménez-Argüello from Madrid, Spain and Webmaster of Cinecutre.com will be the first to face the furious fists of the man other men call Mr. Boll. The Palencia-Boll fight will occur in Malaga, Spain (where Uwe will be receiving an award of some sort for “Bloodrayne” from the International Film Festival of Fantastic Cinema and Terror) sometime this month. The other fights will take place in Vancouver, Canada, where Richard “Lowtax“ Kyanka from Lee’s Summit, Missouri (the Webmaster/CEO for Something Awful) is up next, followed by Ain’t It Cool News journalist Jeff Sneider from Los Angeles (though I couldn’t locate any confirmation of this on the AICN site). If Uwe is still standing at this point, he’ll also tackle Rue Morgue Radio (AM 640 in Toronto ) and Magazine journalist/announcer Chris Alexander from Canada and website critic Nelson Chance Minter from Fredrick , Maryland.

Word on the street is that Uwe may not be at the level of, say, Mirko Cro-Cop, Chuck Liddell or Postal Punisher Chad Griggs as a puncher, but he apparently has enough of a background as a back room boxer that he should be able to shoot on these guys pretty successfully.

You gots to hand it to the Wrecking Boll; not since Sardu in the cult film “Bloodsucking Freaks” (or Vincent Price’s Richard Lionheart in “Theater of Blood”) has anyone devised such a creative and physical form of revenge on his critics.

Gotten back into RO and a Wallpaper Rant

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

Well, I’ve gotten back into Ragnarok Online. It’s a pretty cool game and you should check out the private server I am on over at http://www.q-ro.net/ . So that’s one more reason why I might not be as active of a blogger anymore. (more…)
