The Dynamics of Blocking People

Friday, January 5th, 2007

At an online dating site, I found what I thought was a great woman that had relatively the same interests as me. The truth was, she was a complete bitch and I am glad that I found that out before getting emotionally attached to her. The sad thing was, she blocked me from Instant Messenger without notifying me beforehand. I used a block checker to verify this and I was right. When I confronted her via e-mail, she was a complete bitch. (more…)

Planning to wipe my Macintosh clean

Monday, November 13th, 2006

In a few days, I plan to wipe my MacBook Pro clean and reinstall OS X Tiger. Why? Well, Leopard is fucking with a lot of my applications. Two in particular would be Adium and CrossOver for Mac, but there are other applications that are a few quirks that prohibit them from running in a regular fashion. Applications such as Mail, Azureus, Firefox, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Transmit and Quicksilver.

So, what is the problem that I am facing with just wiping the MacBook and reinstalling Tiger? Well, I still need to find my MacBook’s support disc because my ADC Tiger Disk won’t run on the MacBook Pro. That’s a real bummer because I really want to play on Nyxsis RO.

The imposter v. Kyle of Alberta

Thumbshot of Imposter's Site - 18.4KB JPEG

There are numerous things wrong with this imposter site so I will begin with the most obvious.

  1. Look at the address bar. It reads http://www.freewebs.com/kyleofalaska/ . First off, I have not have my personal site hosted on anything but a domain for the past few years. Second, if you go to http://www.freewebs.com/ you’ll see that it’s not a site about me, that it is a…
  2. Free hosting service. I don’t use free hosting services and I don’t like them. I USED to use free hosting services but I don’t anymore. They are just to ad-ridden.
  3. Notice the title on the page and the title bar. When you go to a new page, the title bar doesn’t reflect that. Furthermore, it shows a lamer level of punctuation (or shall I say over punctuation) and grammar.
  4. What the hell is the Outer Sanctum and Warmwood?
  5. Bad graphics. Really, come on now.
  6. More bad grammar and not only that but Alaska doesn’t have a parliament.

Beta Version: Skype for Windows 2.5.0.82

Monday, May 29th, 2006

Skype is the next phenomenon from the people who brought you KaZaA. Just like KaZaA, this uses P2P (peer-to-peer) technology to connect you to other users – not to share files this time, but to talk for free with your friends. The technology is extremely advanced - but super simple to use. You’ll be making perfect quality free phone calls to your friends in no time. (more…)

MyNet signs a deal with ICQ?

Monday, May 29th, 2006

ICQ Inc. seems to deal with Turkish company Mynet as it did before with Russian Rambler,Ukranian Bigmir,Israeli Nana,German ProSieben,Italian Libero,Bulgarian Abv and finally Turkish Mynet as the new chain of the link which is added last. There aren’t any official announcement by neither ICQ authorities nor Mynet. As you may wonder how I reached to that conclusion, here is the website that justifies my thoughts: http://icq.mynet.com/. We hope this will be a satisfactory deal for both sides. ICQ had lost its popularity in Turkey for a couple of years.Let’s wait and see how it will affect the IM world. (more…)

Kyle Korleski on the new MySpace Instant Messenger

Monday, May 29th, 2006

First off, I noticed that numerous clients are running on the net and contain spyware (such as Gator’s GAIN). The official URL of MySpace is http://www.myspace.com/myspaceim - okay?

And sadly, this package has no support for the Macintosh OS X. Most other IM clients (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, Jabber and Skype) offer multi-platform support while MySpace IM is brought to a significant disadvantage. In fact, they introduced this without even perfecting their web-based version. (how long are these two weeks supposed to be tom?) (more…)

Skype Advocacy

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not abandoning my hope for the ICQ network. Heck, I still use 3rd party messengers (the best one being QIP, which you can find at www.qip.ru) and cracked betas of ICQ, but I digress. I am just more into Skype now. It is such a cool tool and I encourage everyone to sign up for Skype.

You can find the latest version of Skype at http://www.skype.com/ and if you question it’s security, know this. It is owned by the same company as PayPal. Yeah, that makes you feel a little better now, doesn’t it? ^^
