Changed Links and a bit more…

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

The main beef and potatoes of this post: I have changed the blog’s URL to http://www.thekyle.ca/blog/ and the main url of the site to http://www.thekyle.ca/. Please update your links as soon as possible.

Also, I would like to comment on well, commenting. Commenting on blogs is very important and it also helps new blog owners and blog owners with little to no exposure get a little more exposure. Commenting should be allowed on YOUR blog. Why? Well.

  1. It shows that not only are people coming to your site but they are actually reading what you have to say!
  2. It helps to allow people to provide an unique point of view to your blog
  3. People will more than likely come back to your blog
  4. You might get a better Technorati ranking
  5. You might get exposure from sites like Cocomment.

So, enable commenting for your site. Do it.

Waiting for my camera

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

I am waiting for my brand new Pentax Optio S6 camera (and my Neon Genesis Evangelion DVDs but I know they’ll come tommorrow - or it’ll be Amazon’s head). I already know that I am not going to be able to put on a good video blog right when I get the camera but I know that with practice, patience and a little bit of timing, I will be able to make a great video blog. Possibly in 2007, I’ll have a video blog ready.

Setting up a Video Blog really soon

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

If you haven’t guessed from the title of this post, I am actively making plans to set up a video blog alongside my regular blog. There are numerous things I need to do (two things come to mind right now: find out if WordPress is great for Video Blogging, if there’s something else I should use, or if I am stuck coding something myself and figuring out how I plan to produce the movie - I am going to want to do this as a podcast but my new camera shoots movies as DivX rather than Quicktime). My 2 month leave at vB.nl

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

You know, I might be mistaken but vBulletin.nl was a hell of a lot friendlier before the place closed down. Now, the administration has decided to cross the line and I think it’s time I took a temporary 2 month leave from the vBulletin.nl site, OMGBoards.com and the related IRC channels. Maybe it’s just a stress issue and things will clear up. At least I hope so. I have let Floris know how I feel and hopefully things will clear up.

Okay, very well then. I kind of expected this type of thing due to the fact that it usually takes a couple of days to clear deposits so I called the toll free number they provided. And man, the people on the other end of the phone. They started accusing me of having a delinquent account and all in all, they were a horror to deal with. (more…)
