Probably going to get dooced at school
Talking with Mr. Pringle today got me thinking about how well the school takes freedom of speech. The college is actually very hypocritical and I know at least one person that sees this as well. My blog is a mind dump, more or less. You can write about the things that are going on in your life and it helps you feel much better. When comments come, it makes you feel that you are not alone in the struggle that is life. It is a slice of my life that not everyone sees and they get to view the world that I live in a little differently.
I don’t blog about anything, or share opinions, that I wouldn’t feel happy talking about up on a stage in front of friends and strangers. This is why I am not anonymous nor do I wish to be. My name IS Kyle Korleski (no, that is not a pen name) and I live in Calgary, Alberta for the time being (if I were to move, it’d definitely be to Halifax or Vancouver). I have a loud, outspoken attitude that some people find to be very acidic. I’d love to be stopped and told how much my blog rocks/sucks. I love writing this blog because it gives me a chance and a forum in which to vent my anger, disgust and discontentment with the world, while at the same time celebrating the wonderful things that happen in my life. It is very nice to actually get comments on this blog, and no, the viagra spam comments do not count in this.
Fortunately, I may be getting a job soon with an employer that is less likely to dooce me then the school is. The boss actually has a website of her own and she understands that we should not be judgmental.

hi there, why are you afraid of getting dooced? What school are you in? I’m writing a book about blogs and doocing and I’d like to hear more.
all the best,
Erik

Because they have made it perfectly clear that they do not want me to express myself on this blog. I am attending Alberta Bible College and the Director of the school and a Student Services counselor sat me down and told me that they were planning on doocing me (not their words) if I continued to write on my blog.

Hi Kyle, thanks for getting back in touch. I’ll write about you, and you’re school, if you let me. I’m right in the middle of following up on various leads but your’s is hot.
People like your school and its director should be publicly humiliated. All the power to the bloggers!

Hi again Kyle,
Another thought: does your school have a blogging policy? Perhaps you should ask to see it? If they don’t have one, you should insist that they get one. You can’t be judged according to rules that don’t exist.

I give you full permission to write my entire story and place it in your book as you see fit, provided that the names of everyone involved remain intact.
And no, they do not have a blogging policy. They are punishing me (more or less) under their damn community life covenant. You can very likely find that at https://www.abc-ca.org/assets/files/registration/covenant.pdf .

Kyle, no offense but it does look like they have every right to do this, it is a BIBLE COLLEGE. You do not exactly portray the views they expect from there students, this is not a public school. I have to side with them, there are rules that need to be followed.
April 26th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Yes, but they shouldn’t be allowed to arbitrarily dismiss students and steal their money. And even if you do complete the programme, it’s worthless once you find that Christianity is one of the oldest hoaxes in the world.
April 26th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
You broke their rules, the can do what they want. Weather you agree with Christianity or not has nothing to do with it, you most likely signed a piece of paper when you signed up for school saying you agree with their terms, in fact I’m sure you did.
April 26th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
No, I never violated their rules. What they did was completely arbitrary.
April 26th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
It is a covenant you did not follow these terms, right?
April 26th, 2007 at 2:51 pm
There was never a section in that covenant about blogging. Not even in the version that I signed.

From reading your blog it does not seem to me that you did not follow this. I like your blog don’t get me wrong and i will continue to read it, however I can see how this blog can be a concern to them.

Yeah, I guess the reason why I am really pissed about this is the fact that the $25,000 inheritance that paid for it was left to me by my grandmother and it’s the only nice thing that any member of my family has ever done for me. So I really wanted to get a degree with it or at the very least come close to getting one.

Sorry it took me a while to get back, Ive been a little busy. I can totally see your reasons, for getting pissed. And you know, if that was the case for me, I would feel the same way. Sorry for pushing your buttons a little
