Possibly working on a content writing job
I think I may be getting a content writing job with eleven2 soon. For those of you who don’t know, eleven2 is a hosting company that I used to be a customer of in late 2005 and is run by my friend from High School, Rodney Giles. I mean, it’s great to get a job that I can do from abroad. A little extra cash in my pocket and toward my upcoming marriage to Becca. On the surface, this seems like a great opportunity and it is something that I would love to do. But the thing about this job is - do I want it? Can I live with myself writing the sales and support content. Possibly. Let’s look at the facts, shall we?
I have a very low opinion of Eleven2 as a business. They are one of the worst hosts I’ve experienced, second only to Surpass. And yes, I did do some things that could be conceived as sophomoric humour against Eleven2. I hate it with a passion and only because they ate my web site AFTER my shitty Dell laptop died. Everything you see here was done AFTER I got my new laptop and the older posts from 2004 were pulled from the Internet Archive. What you see here is not the original remains from KyleTech in 1998 - having lost a lot of what I got back from my old Geocities account. What you see here is a new beginning, instead. There are parts of my site that remain in other areas of the Internet. And while I keep them up out of consideration that it’s an archived version of my site - it’s something that I am not proud of. But what I am proud of is how much I’ve improved over the years.
But that’s the important thing - I’ve improved in years. Maybe eleven2 has improved too. I’d be able to get an inside view of eleven2, I’d probably get a company car (okay, Rodney isn’t stupid - he’s not going to give me a company car), I’d get paid - probably even while I am in the UK, I can suggest changes to the e2 design and what not and I can see how much eleven2 is improving. I am going to stay with MediaTemple of course. Some people never improve, however - the flesh example being my father.
