A Christian’s Family
The day before yesterday, I got in touch with a good friend of mine from High School. For privacy’s sake, I’ll keep her name private. In fact, we’ve considered going out together. But when I told her that I’m a Buddhist now - she told me not to tell her family because they might not like that. I’m more than willing to abide by this condition considering that I knew her sister and she was a member of Fellowship of Christian Students. But unfortunately, I could not abide by it for long.
You see, the problem is that when I got to my friend’s house, I talked to her and her other little sister. After her family left, we got to talking more and more and I was really feeling a strong with her. But I accidentally let it slip that I am not a Christian when both of her sisters were at the house. This was a big mistake as I see now, but I don’t think I could honestly let them believe that I am a Christian. And of course, I am not going to go to church to appease anyone.
I don’t believe in Jesus, God, Satan, Muhammad, or anything like that. It’s a load of crap anyway. God is imaginary, Jesus never existed and these are some of the truest facts in the world. Most of the “legend” of Jesus is false and this is determined through numerous pieces of documentary evidence. In fact, Galilee was not a part of the Roman Empire when Jesus was born. And it’s these discrepancies that make Christianity a load of garbage. With these facts, how can any logical person believe in Christianity? But it’s not just that. The bible is very repulsive and some of the things is commands his followers to do - such as killing homosexuals and other such problems.

While I strongly disagree with what you believe…
“I’m a Buddhist now - she told me not to tell her family because they might not like that.”
She, like many many people, don’t want to make a big fuss over religion/politics. She just doesn’t want it to come up because she knows that you’re can’t see and understand the ‘other’ side, and being a very stubborn person, won’t let things go. So she doesn’t want to talk about religion because she knows her parents are exactly the same way.
How is not talking about Religion, “letting them believe you were a Christian”?

However, your post wasn’t about the lack of understanding with parental units in regards to the parenting of their children
it was a flame on christianity… which wasn’t really what you were angry about
right? i mean, there comes a time when parents have to let go of their children, you can’t force someone to believe something, and you can’t enforce who your children date/love/marry
it’s proven time and time again, generation after generation
…
RE: use of stubborn: Characterized by perseverance; persistent.
I did NOT mean this as an insult, and it was 100% not intended to be.

A true Buddhist would have never bad mouther another religion in this way.
It is not your place to tell another what to believe or why they shouldn’t believe what they do.
Live and let live bro.
