Can’t Rely on Bank of America in an Emergency

You know, it’s quite funny that one of the most successful banks in the United States, and the world, has problems with serving it’s personal clients. Wait, that’s not funny at all. I think it’s pretty pathetic, personally. What am I talking about? I called Bank of America today asking them to give me access to $200 that I have in a savings account with them and they refused to help me. Some call centre associates were just terribly unhelpful. And none of them were competent nor willing to listen so they could help me with the problems that I was having.

It all began with Dusten - That asshole roommate of mine, Dusten Dixon stole my fucking bank card a couple of months ago and while I do not know why he did it, I am pretty sure that I have a good idea. He did it to try to impress that bitch, Miranda. Unfortunately, this has failed miserably as I heard just recently that he is dating someone that looks a lot like Miranda. I can’t help but feel sorry for him at times, simply due to the fact that he has done so much against me for that bitch and yet, he got roped into her lies - just like I did. But then again, those feelings pass when I remember how he lied to the school or my landlord. And all I feel for Dusten is apathy. I am angry that he lied to my landlord, stole my bank card and conspired with Miranda to try to ruin me. But I feel sorry for him as well, because he was fooled just like I was.

Paula from the Rhode Island call centre - I called this woman and she was completely unhelpful. She was still stuck on trying to get my ATM card to me until she found out that Bank of America axed my chequing account with them a few months ago. Just in case you don’t know, Bank of America closed my chequing account without my consent. This just means that I can’t get a replacement Bank of America Visa ATM card. Okay, but they still have my cash so I should be able to do something about this. I’d love to at the very least get a western union cash transfer. They told me to go to Scotiabank the next day and they might be able to help me.

Scotiabank - I got to Scotiabank at 4:15pm, when they were closed. But fortunately, this one dude decided to try to help me and guess what? Apparently, the partnership Bank of America has with Scotiabank is only for their ABMs. Which would be helpful IF I had a bank card. It was really pissing me off that they could not give me instructions about how to get my money immediately. The woman on the phone told me that I would have to call 1-800-VISA-911. I took the number down and the guy from Scotiabank showed me out of there. Which brings us to the next part of our saga.

1-800-VISA-911 - I called this number because the Bank of America agent told me to call it whenever I got out of Scotiabank. I headed over to the pay phone in front of the Western Union place in McKnight shopping centre - just near Safeway. There was just one problem - this was an emergency phone number for Visa credit and cheque cards. To make matters worse, the person I was speaking to barely spoke English and we had a very difficult time communicating. In fact, I had to repeat my billing address three times before I got her to understand that I was living in Canada. I had to go browsing through stores anyway so I browsed through the nearby Safeway for a little while. I found some great deals and a hour later, I called back.

Luke Krawzzuk and Kathy Waters (Tampa, Florida call centre) - The last two people that I talked to with Bank of America were the worst. They were completely unhelpful and were basically assholes. What they did is they refused to give me my money just because I had a savings account. A SAVINGS ACCOUNT! So what if I have a savings account? I have like US$210 in the account. It’s still MY money and I should be able to access it when I want. I tried to ask them to give me the money that I had in my account but they just wouldn’t listen. So now, I am preparing to go to the Consulate-General of the United States here in Calgary tomorrow and asking for a little help to get back into the States.

So, if you are a Bank of America customer and have read this - you might be wondering if there is a better option for if you are travelling. Fortunately there is. HSBC is a much better bank to deal with and they are more capable to help you on an international scale. You can find HSBC banks in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico and other countries. Plus, if you are in the states, you can register for a HSBC bank account online - this can be very handy for travellers. This is what I’ll be doing and I’ll make sure I get my cheque card and other stuff before I leave for the UK. I hear that it’s really easy to move a HSBC account over to a new country if you need to.

  2. Moi Says:

K, so I know Dust really well. He tells me everything. I know he didn’t do any of the shit you’re accusing him of. So seriously, don’t bullshit about my big brother to gain yourself some sympathy, ok? Putting others down only makes you look better to the people who can’t see through the lie.

  3. Kyle Says:

@Dusten: You never respected me or my things. You lied to the landlords and stole a substantial amount of money from me as well as a debit card. And I know that you did like Miranda. I view things as they are. I know you stole my debit card. I know you stole cash from me. And the only reason I am not filing a police report is because I am going to meet my girl in London soon.

@Moi: Apparently not, considering the fact that he didn’t tell you about stealing my debit card. I know that he did, he is the only one that could have. I have not lied about anyone on this blog. Ever. So I take great offence to your libelous and untrue statement.

  4. Seriously Says:

Kyle I rember you told me you misplace things alot and that your emory is not entirely good File false claims but I never took anything of yours And i did respect your things and that I never touched them Enless you offerd Such as the computer

as well as i took No money from you why would i you were in the same position as me I had no money an so were you. THink it through my stealing days are Years behind me i see no point in stealing anything ..

What is there to gain when i just take things from others nothing at all

And i did not Take Anything from you.

I repeat things so you understand it.

As well as i never liked her.

and i do tell things everything to my little sister ..

  5. Kyle Says:

Then why didn’t you tell her about the theft of my debit card, Dusten? I am certain you have a VIVID memory of the event.

  6. Seriously Says:

Cause i cannot Tell someone somthing I never did Kyle my Mind doesnt work like yours im sorry

  7. Kyle Says:

And yet, you are denying the truth here. Come to think of it, you aren’t even using your real name in the postings.

  8. Seriously Says:

i am telling the truth and its my choice to use m y real name or not.. and im out right saying that i never stole your things

  9. Kyle Says:

Dusten, I have opened comments up after evaluating the risk of having liars like you post whatever lies pop into your head. So you can post that you are Barack Obama if you so wish, but I highly recommend that you consider getting some help. The facts remain that you did, in fact, steal my debit card. You did, in fact, lie to my landlord. You did, in fact, lie to the already corrupt school administration in order to get me out of the picture so you can date Miranda. You did this all and failed. I know for a fact that you are now only dating someone that looks a lot like Miranda. And I know that you have stolen $2,000 worth of US dollars. I have already been required to report it to the Consulate General of the United States here in Calgary so they can aid me in temporarily getting back to the United States.

  10. Seriously Says:

This is it Kyle i know for a fact i did not take your card. and how could i use it if i did take it? you do need a pass for it But i dont have it And never touched it you are Acusing me of somthing i Never did and other things i didnt..

actions have reactions. And some of your actions brought on what happend I really had nothing to do in any of it.

And i never wanted to Date Miranda but you see it a way that is hazed But its it You blame me for things i have never done or planed. i tried to help But yet you just wanted to hear the things you wanted to hear

and then you take it as I am your Nemisis a man with a Vendetta against you. I never did.

  11. John Says:

Just a quick heads-up… If you have recently requested financial assistance from the the US consulate then you will probably be blocked from obtaining a work/study-permit in another foreign country for 2-5 years. The logic is that the US government doesn’t like repeatedly paying money to help citizens who bankrupt themselves abroad so they willingly share your financial info/consulate requests with their immigration partners in other countries. You can still travel for pleasure/business but you’re unlikely to get an working visa to the UK if you have applied for financial assistance from the US government.

Sorry for the bad news :(

  12. Kyle Says:

Dusten: You did steal my card. And it doubles as a credit card, so a thief like yourself would not require a passcode to use the card. I know your intentions for a fact and I know that you do, in fact, have a vendetta against me.

John: I have not yet received help from the US Consulate so I should probably retract my request then.

  13. Seriously Says:

No i dont! and i never took it Kyle

If i did steal it When was it the dates. CAuse I know for a fact i never did take it

and you are parinoid no offence Kyle But something happens and you start targeting people and making lies about them That to you are true in your head.

I have no Vendetea agaisnt you

I have not done anything at all to you. You keep targeting me Because to you I done things that i never even done

Its just a circle I know that what you said i never Did

but yet you target me …. like when i worked at subway you went in to place false claims about me And everyone pointed them out that they were not true because of what you said Doesnt fit in who i am at all… And yet eacch time i Forgive you..

But yet i just want these targets against me to stop I did nothing against oyu but you think i Did and its just pointless Cause there was nothing done I stepdd in when i felt things werent right when i felt poeple were not in a safe situation that Included you Kyle. Because no one was tehre really when i was in Unsafe situations.

And yea i learnt from my Mistakes and I can relate to somethings Kyle I made things up in my head cause why would any one do anything to me!( I WAS BETTER THEn EVERYONE) Was the sound that echoed in my head but i was no diffrent from any one else I was just a kog like everyone else With my own problems and i cannot Work on my own as much as i want to prove my self saying i had no problems I did and i got help. So i saw alot and didnt want you to get hurt but that happend.. And i

Had nothing really to do with the €”lies” as you put it with your eviction or your schooling as much as it looks like it was No it wasnt. step up and take claim of Life kyle.. Each person is also is in control of their own actions.

    But ya Anyways…

  14. GET OVER IT Says:

kyle i think that its time you got over things….i don’t know you or dusten but from what i can see from you writings is that you need help…SERIOUS help! you thoughts are so twisted and you fail to see what really is in front of you.

in not knowing you or dusten i can not say who really is right, but i do think that you should drop the fact that he like(s) miranda for if he says that he doesn’t like her would he know better than you if he did/doesn’t or ever have?

you seem like you are sooooo full of hatred..not just towarrds dusten and abc but towards the entire world…..what happened to you that makes you so angry….why are you hurting so much inside….let me tell you that from exprience seeing a professional is extemely helpful….its very enlightening you learn a lot about yourself that you never knew and after awhile you feel soooo much better and you will be able to look at the world maybe for the first time in your life through happy eyes and be able to enjoy the beautiful in a single drop of rain

  15. Kyle Says:

Seeing as your hostname is a Calgary hostname, I’d doubt that you are a “neutral third party” as you so state.

  16. trish Says:

kyle, banks don’t just close your chequing account for no reason. what really happened?

  17. Kyle Says:

I just told you what really happened.

  18. trish Says:

no, you said “Just in case you don’t know, Bank of America closed my chequing account without my consent.”

I very much doubt this is true. I have a Scotiabank account in Toronto that I no longer use and have tried to close by phone and they will not let me without going into the branch, and I no longer live there. It is open and I believe there is even a negative balance and they still will not close it until I go into the branch in Toronto to do so.

So Bank of America did not close your account without your consent. They must have closed it because of fraud on your part. They do not close accounts when your card is stolen. They cancel the card and issue you a new one.

You need to pay attention to detail if you are going to make stuff up, because one hole and your whole story turns to swiss cheese.
