Foil the Snooping Principal
Afraid that your school/employer is monitoring your every click and clack? Protect yourself from schoolyard snooping by following a few simple rules.
Cover your clacks
If you suspect The Man is logging your every keystroke, install Spyware Doctor (you can get this at pctools.com). It’ll expose any program running silently in the background while you work. (Note: You need an admin password to install the app. If IT refuses to help you, you can try bribing them with a spool of blank DVDs.)
Surf Undercover
Prevent your principal from tracking your daily URL crawl with a web based program like The Cloak, which masks the addresses of sites you visit by redirecting your browsing through it’s domain.
Change up your e-mail
Don’t use your work e-mail for anything other than work. If you need personal e-mail access, try Hushmail or Secure GMail.
IM on the DL
I would recommend Meebo for this purpose. ^_^ It’s small, AJAX powered and it supports the majour IM networks (ICQ, AIM, Yahoo!, MSN and Jabber/Google Talk).
Get Peace of Mind
Still afraid? You should check out the Electronic Information Centre’s Guide to Cloaking Tools.

…or enjoy the joys of surfing through a proxy.
At one office, the IT admin was being a real pain, so a buddy hooked into his cable account and set up a nice SOCKS proxy… that made things difficult “for the man”… we simply applied the proxy settings and the IT weenie ended up wondering why his log showed whackloads of traffic to one I.P…. which, of course, changed daily.
I ended up with his job, oddly enough… and I didn’t bother checking logs at all and just told the users to be “nice”.

A friend of mine made a general PHP browsing script called Paper Tunnel. I believe you can get to it at http://hiware.net/ptl.php.
