Retrospect on a Sucky Year

Monday, January 1st, 2007

Looking back at 2006, here are my biggest successes and failures. No matter whether they are successes or failures, I have learned immensely from them and I am grateful for the wisdom that I was granted from these experiences.

Biggest Successes

  1. Entry into Canada - On August 31st, 2006, I have successfully achieved my dream of gaining more permanent status in this country as a student, rather than on a TRV. Granted, it expires on July 31st, 2007, but at least I have the most valuable thing in this world that will help my immigration. I have time.
  2. Obtainment of employment - I have successfully obtained employment at a non-profit organization. This makes obtaining a work permit and permanent residence much easier, due to the lack of a labour market opinion. A labour market opinion is the last thing I want due to the time it takes to acquire one and my possible ineligibility. Fortunately, the Province has a great nomination programme.
  3. Moved away from my family - I have moved so far away from my biological family. In fact, this makes me exceedingly happy, considering my family is full of assholes and I could not stand being near them anymore.

Biggest Failures

  1. Alberta Bible College - I am just going to write off the entire experience as a failure. Too many assholes, both in the student body and faculty. I am happy to be out of there but I am sad that they screwed me out of $400 for the chore requirement.
  2. My trust fund is completely depleted - To make it THIS far, I had to deplete the trust fund that my grandmother left me when she died. This was not the greatest option but I do not regret it, seeing as I could not have gotten this far without depleting it. Plus, I can always go to U of C when I get my immigration details all sorted out for permanent residence.
  3. Moved the blog around - I have moved around the blog way too much, breaking many permalinks and ruining my great page rank.
  4. I got wrongly canned at Valero - Okay, this bolstered my reasoning why I should immigrate to Canada, because oil companies have too much power. So much even to violate the laws that regulate labour.

Day of unemployment

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Before you get started, yes I am looking for a job. This is one of THOSE times when sending a little bit of cash via PayPal helps boost morale.

Unemployment IS a problem for me. A big problem. I’ve got 2 creditors that want my blood and I have only $2 CAD to my name. If you want me to do a vBulletin design for you, I’ll do it for $100-$400 depending on how complex you want it.

P.S. The new design for the site is coming along nicely. I also added new categories to the WordPress and all that good stuff. I hope to get the latest version of my site out in about a couple of weeks.

Those bastards at Valero…

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

That bastard, Tom Scheliga, fired me for “stealing food” from Valero. That is a completely bogus lie, but what can you do? Valero is a corporation with over $30 billion USD and a team of bad-ass lawyers. I am a person with -$600 net worth and a friend in law school. In america, it’s not about whether you are right or not, it’s about how many lawyers and how good they are.

I have an appointment with Mr. Sunni from Spinzer’s tommorrow.

At work today…

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

You know, sometimes I wonder, why is it that these idiots get to upper management? They expect me, a computer geek, to load all of the crap from the truck into the back room, stock it, stock the cigs and all that shit - and they are only paying me $7 a hour (well, actually, $7.25)? It’s kinda weird, I know.

What does that have to do with anything? I really couldn’t tell you, but I know it has some kind of relevance to something I have written or will write in the future. I just need to find out what. Oh, and I got a good view of Tara. I like riding in her car back home. Not just because it is hot as hell and it makes a 15 minute walk seem like an eternity. Naw, it’s because when Tara gets off of work, she usually has a shirt that really sports her stuff. Plus, she has these tight pants that make her butt look good.

Oh, and I am going mobile either today or tommorrow. Deal with it. Fear it.

A generic rant.

Well, I’ve started development on GalleryPress, the perfect Gallery to complement WordPress. Actually, to be truthful, it won’t work with ONLY WordPress. I plan to make a version for b2evolution as well.

Also, I am back on the road to getting my own server again. However, due to the fact that this is a lifetime ASO account… I will keep my personal site here. Hell, Tim already has my $150, why not? (more…)

I put my Dell in it’s place

Friday, January 27th, 2006

My Dell Inspiron 1100 finally got what it deserved, the trip to the dumpster behind Valero. But truthfully, it was for the best. I have my cool new HP Pavilion zd8000 and my old crusty Dell isn’t good for anyone else. But to tell you the truth, I am kinda sad that I had to send it off in that way.

I’ve got my pay stub and I see that I am so much closer to getting all my bills paid off and getting my sister her fucking iPod and myself a brand new server from the Planet. I will, however, keep this ASO account open for good measure. Also, while we are talking about bills and the like, my normal net connection is down. Right now, I am bumming of the neighbours Internet. Unlucky. (more…)
