Missing my luggage
I remember when I was travelling on Greyhound, I had four pieces of luggage and my hat. These were a brown rolling suitcase, a smaller rolling laptop bag, a laptop bag by booq and a backpack. These are the things I left Canada with. When I was in Lethbridge, the strap to my laptop bag broke off and I had to carry it, by hand. This was a pain because I also cut my hand open pretty badly in Lethbridge, Alberta. Which is something that I am going to write about in a later post. But anyways, on with my luggage.
I packed these pieces of luggage for necessity. I knew for a fact that it would not be possible to bring EVERYTHING I had with me. So, I had to leave some stuff behind. Most of it was just books, DVDs and clothing. Some of it was stuff I really wanted to keep (i.e. the Onegai Teacher DVD box set) and some of it was stuff that I really didn’t need anymore (i.e. my Maximum PC subscription). But I packed stuff relating to my trip (like band-aids and other stuff that I might need, just in case) and stuff that I absolutely, positively could not live without (like my laptop). And with 4 pieces of luggage full of stuff, I headed out from Calgary to the US-Canada border at Sweetgrass, Montana.
Dealing with luggage when hitchhiking can be a pain in the ass. This was made even more true when I was getting around Lethbridge and Portland. The buses in Portland were not really low-riding and I could not board them easily with my luggage. That, and I had to go up elevators, find my way through numerous skyscrapers and do all sorts of stuff just to get around. Personally, I think it was easier to get around Lethbridge than it was to get around Portland. Some might even consider it odd that I am moving to Portland, but that’s just temporary until I get get immigrant status in Canada. In fact, I plan to make a lot of use out of my passport before I get to trade it in for a Canadian passport.
Anyway, when I got off the greyhound bus, I found that my black backpack and my rolling suitcase were missing. Now, my backpack has things like my MacBook’s rescue CDs, the AppleCare tools and Aperture (along with other things) and those were things I had to part with. However, I lost a lot of books which were kinda good reads and I really wanted to keep them. My rolling suitcase (which I got back) had my external hard drive (cables were in the backpack), my Airport Express wireless router and a lot of clothes. So I am kinda happy that I got my rolling suitcase back but I am still looking for my black backpack. Instead, I have to order a brand new set of cables for the LaCie drive in order to use it. *sigh* Never a moment’s rest.

I know how you feel about having to leave things behind when you move, I left a lot of things when I moved to England, but I plan on moving back to Calif again, so I’m going to see those things again lol. Glad you found your bag and hope you find your backpack too.
