I find people here a lot more cold than people in many other cities. I recently immigrated here and find that, even though it’s a fairly big city, there’s definitely a small town mentality. Definitely a lot of superficiality, racism, and sexism. There’s just something generic about Calgary. I will be leaving for another city very soon.

I find that many people in Calgary have their head up their ass. They are ignorant to the plight of others, including the homeless. Why do you think we have that problem. Turning to your comment about the women of Calgary. I used to be a season ticket holder for the Calgary Flames games and had to give them up after witnessing the endless parade of women snearing at each other and coming to game to show-up the other women. In Calgary, whatever you’re doing, just remember, it’s style over substance all the way. In Calgary, the people are content free.

Hmmmm, Holly sounds like one of those Calgarians you were talking about.

Frankly, I may have been born in Alberta, but I’m thinking about leaving for some of the same reasons. I have managed to find and build a good group of friends here, but there is a colder attitude here than there is in other parts of the country. People are crueler, bitchier, more venomous and hateful.

My sister is moving to Halifax this summer. They both visited there recently and were so struck by the difference in the culture, and by how nice everyone was. Too bad for Calgary.

I live here too and I want out.

Edmonton isn’t any better. Don’t waste your time on it. Leave Alberta entirely.

As for girls, you’ve just met the wrong ones. The geeky bunch of us do exist, we’re just too hard to find… just like guys who aren’t meatheads/rednecks are few in Calgary.

Dude, Calm down. Calgary isnt horrible. I have met so many amazing people in Calgary. Dont be so cruel, fuck, man, you meet some bitches and you hate calgary? Its a great city, jsut give it a chance. its much morep ersonal than edmonton if you give it a chance. go talk to a stranger and just live and run througha + 15 and ride the train and go to the stampede and meet people who are exited and happy. jeez, i personally love calgar.y Every time igo out, i meet a new stranger and become aquainted. Its….really cool. Just give it more of a chance. Not everyone sucks. Or barely anyone does. The sucky ones just stick out like sore thumbs…
