11 Reasons Why Alberta Bible College is a Scam
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007Yesterday, I got a telephone call from a good friend of mine. For privacy’s sake, I am going to leave his name out of it. However, he called me because he got a call from the evil people at Alberta Bible College. They asked Gary to tell me to take down what I have written about Alberta Bible College. Much like other kinds of con artists, the directors at Alberta Bible College want to remove the proof that they are involved in fraudulent activity. They do not want the truth to be broadcasted that I was screwed and lied to at Alberta Bible College. They are afraid that what I have written will actively alert people of the corruption at Alberta Bible College. I will evaluate why this is a con and what I intend to do. (more…)
Time for a Refresh of Faith
Thursday, May 3rd, 2007James Mathias has given me the slap I need in the comments of a couple of my posts. He pointed out that I have not been so good in fulfilling the Eight-fold path, the Five moral precepts and a few of the other tenets of Buddhism. Even though I have investigated religion thoroughly and I found that Buddhism is more realistic, logical and it is the best for me - I still haven’t followed the rules of Buddhism to the letter. I have said some very unkind things about Christianity and I have done a few things that are completely against the spirit of Buddhism. So for the time being, I am going to seriously think things through and try to make sure I didn’t just rush foolishly into Buddhism. And even though this is a faith that I truly want to be in, I must reinforce certain parts of my character. Therefore, I have a plan to try to do the right thing and still be prepared to be a better Buddhist in the long run. (more…)
A Christian’s Family
Monday, April 30th, 2007The day before yesterday, I got in touch with a good friend of mine from High School. For privacy’s sake, I’ll keep her name private. In fact, we’ve considered going out together. But when I told her that I’m a Buddhist now - she told me not to tell her family because they might not like that. I’m more than willing to abide by this condition considering that I knew her sister and she was a member of Fellowship of Christian Students. But unfortunately, I could not abide by it for long. On Hiatus for a while
Wednesday, April 25th, 2007I’m not going to sugarcoat the truth or lie about things. The people who read my blog day in and day out know that I am not one to lie or falsify reality. But recently, Becca had made the decision to end our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend. I wish her well in all that she does and I’m just happy that she treated me with the respect and dignity I deserve. She didn’t lie to me or deceive me like Miranda did. Or like Chelsea did. But I am not happy about the situation at all. In fact, I am quite unhappy because I had high hopes for this relationship. (more…)
Happy April 20th! (4/20)
Friday, April 20th, 2007I wanted to make sure that I made a post today, considering what today is and all. After all, it only comes once a year. So prepare to read my first tribute to this glorious 4/20. What am I talking about? For those who don’t know - 4/20 or 4:20 refers to marijuana. It is widely accepted that in 1971, a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California, calling themselves “The Waldos”, used to meet every day after school at 4:20 PM. to smoke marijuana at the Louis Pasteur statue. To this day, many pot smokers continue to observe 4:20 as a time to smoke communally. By extension April 20 has evolved into a quasi-holiday, where people gather to celebrate and smoke pot. (more…)
Why I’d never ask to be on a blogroll
Monday, April 9th, 2007I don’t ask to be on other people’s blogrolls. While I think it would be nice to be on every blogger’s blogroll and I have no objection to being added or linked to - I just don’t think it’s appropriate to ask to be on another person’s blogroll. I only add people that I know to my blogroll and I mean know as in know in person. Does this mean that if you meet me at WWDC, SxSW or some other conference and if I like your content - I’ll add your blog? No. And asking in person just means I’ll be right there to look at you strangely and go “what the fuck?” I generally like people and I like to expose new and upcoming talent in all mediums. But I only add people that I know, like and know to write great and honest commentary on their blog. If I find your content worthwhile but I haven’t met you IRL - I’ll link in a post. Until then, just keep doing great work. You’ll get noticed. ^_^
When companies MUST provide wifi to their customers
Monday, April 9th, 2007I have a belief that certain businesses should definitely provide wireless Internet services to it’s clientele. These are businesses where it’s either expected of the business to carry wifi or it’s necessary based on the type of business and/or the clientele served by the business. Keep in mind that most of the businesses listed below provide services to people who MIGHT be travelling. Travellers may find it harder to find specific services in the area for which they are travelling without prior research.
Cafes and Coffee shops - All cafes and coffee shops should provide free wifi services to their clients. In fact, providing wireless Internet service is actually a staple to compete in the coffee shop business. It’s no longer solely based on the flavour of the beverages you serve anymore. But it stands to reason, coffee shops are mainly frequented for their ambience. They are pretty popular with business people and college students alike. There was a coffee shop in Lethbridge, Alberta I went to called the Penny Coffee Shop (I think) and while the hot chocolate was pretty steep on the price, it provided me the power to talk with my lovely Becca. This is invaluable. And I am pretty sure the services were well used by the many college students that walked into and out of the coffee shop.
Long-haul transit services - Companies such as Greyhound and Amtrak should provide wireless internet services simply due to the fact that they are long-haul transit providers. These should generally be provided in their customer lobbies for customers who are waiting copious amounts of time for things such as lay overs or a line change. Like, for an example - when you get to the end of the line for a route like Empire Builder in Portland, Oregon - it would be a great idea to provide wifi services while waiting for a train to take you on the rest of the route. And it would seem that for Amtrak, it would also be feasible to integrate it into the cars. I mean, they have found a way to integrate a snack bar into the transit service - how much harder could this be?
Motels - I don’t care what anyone says about this - wifi in motels is a NECESSITY. It allows you to remain in touch with your loved ones, friends, business associates and family. Therefore, to reduce the level of homesickness, it would definitely be a good idea to integrate wireless services into Motels. Most motels are picking up on this fast - the proof being that the smaller motels like O’Haire Manor Motel and Sherlock Motel in Shelby, Montana. But there are still motels like the nasty biker motel just out of the United States border in Sweetgrass, Montana.
Restaurants - Depending on your location and the nature of your clientele, this could go either way. Most likely, if this is just a family restaurant, this is not really a necessity. If this is a romantic kind of restaurant, you might want to stay as far away from providing wifi as possible. But if you get a lot of business people visiting your restaurant, do them a favour and provide wifi services in your restaurants. Your business will probably be frequented more by business people if you provide great food and a way to show a presentation without necessarily needing it onto their hard drive.
And to everyone else, think about your clientele and their needs carefully and you might find that it would actually be in your best interest to provide wireless internet to your clients.
Am I fat?
Thursday, March 29th, 2007When I was about to go take a shower today, I noticed that my stomach is a bit bigger than I’d like to see. This means that I am going to have to start eating better. But of course, there is also the poverty diet that I am currently going through. Therefore, I am going to try to cut down on drinking soft drinks and start drinking juices instead. I am going to try more healthy alternatives to the snacks I love and of course, I might save some money in the process. On top of that, when I am not talking with my girl online or assisting a client, I will run or do some sort of physical activity and I will do it more often. There are a bunch of reasons why but only one actually stands out: (more…)
Can’t Rely on Bank of America in an Emergency
Wednesday, March 28th, 2007You know, it’s quite funny that one of the most successful banks in the United States, and the world, has problems with serving it’s personal clients. Wait, that’s not funny at all. I think it’s pretty pathetic, personally. What am I talking about? I called Bank of America today asking them to give me access to $200 that I have in a savings account with them and they refused to help me. Some call centre associates were just terribly unhelpful. And none of them were competent nor willing to listen so they could help me with the problems that I was having. (more…)
